D is for ... Dinosaur 04/16/2011
"D" is also for my darling daughter, who has recently become quite fascinated by all-things dinosaurs. Fabulous! And, with her exorbitant amounts of pink and purple in her wardrobe, she will certainly make one very stylish paleontologist one day. So once again, she inspires me. I find myself on the hunt to dig up dinosaurs in ribbons and coated fabrics to add them to my designs...despite my daughter's wish to save them all for her very own crafting. I guess we inspire each other -- now how awesome is that? Well...downright divine! And, while you're at it, check out these dinosaur-inspired items from my fellow EtsyKids team members. So creative and fun...they're positively ROAR~ific! Add Comment Happy 1st official day of Spring! Must say, I was ready for Winter to end. Our daffodils are blooming and the forsythia, too. The pear tree in my front yard is blossoming with gorgeous clusters of white flowers...and the heat has officially been switched to "off" inside the house. Windows are open to let the the fresh air in. I'm once again rejuvenated energized. Spring has definitely sprung! With Spring's awakening, Easter will be here before we know it. Are you on the hunt for nifty Easter basket ideas? If you're like me, I admittedly love all of the specialty chocolates and sweets, but strive to fill my daughter's basket with trinkets and bobbles that will have purpose long after the holiday. Roll.n.Go Crayons are a neat addition. For an added surprise, switch out one (or a few) crayons with sweet treats. Lifesaver candies fit perfectly -- just saying. Fold.n.Go Art Folios are fun, too...and, might I add, are quite handy for children during church service and just might inspire some creative pew art. With dozens of designs available, you're sure to find one that fits your basket's theme or child's personality. Happy Hunting! Need a favor? 03/05/2011
I love custom orders. I really do. Not only do they give me the chance to create something special for a customer, 99 percent of the time they lead to a new design or product. Recently, I had a customer order a large quantity of Write Drink Tags for her sister's bridal shower luncheon she is hosting this coming May. As we discussed pricing, I had a surprise "aha" moment - for a special event like this, how fun would it be to tailor the packaging to reflect the bride's special day. Hello, genius! After all, in my former life I was a communications director + graphic designer. How brilliant, I could marry two of my loves and offer my customer a truly unique bridal luncheon favor. Today, I happily shipped out the customer's box of wine tag favors. Must say, I'm delighted with how they turned out. I created four concepts for the customer that used the wedding colors, and she ultimately choice this one (and my personal favorite!). Personalized drink tag favors are perfect for weddings, bridal showers, anniversary parties, wine parties and other festive celebrations. Thank your special guests with an extra special touch. Design and message are fully customizable. If you are interested in a bulk purchase of tags for favors, let's chat about it! ...and, by the way, the timing for this could not be more ideal. Why, you ask? Can't say just yet...but exciting details to come very, very soon! Think Pink - Valentine's Day is coming 01/29/2011
![]() 2011 is going to be a fantastic year. Lots of amazing things are already happening (more on those later!) and we're excitedly looking forward to our next holiday - Valentine's Day! My daughter Lilly hosts an annual fancy "Valentine's Day Girlfriends Lunch Party" -- she is 6.5 years old and with a birthday in July it gives her (...err, I mean her mom - me!) the perfect excuse to plan another frilly party. So, as we look to welcome the arrival of February next week, we're all about pink, hearts, and XO's around here. Looking to treat your Valentine with a special gift? Here are a few fun ideas. My treat to you? Free shipping! Anywhere in the world - now that's sweet! 136 Days Until Christmas 08/11/2009
Can you believe it? 2009 is over half in the past. Kids are gearing up for the return to school, including my miss Lillian who becomes a big kindergartener! Perhaps it's the 100 degree temps the last few days that have me thinking about the holidays...and snow! The holidays will be upon us before we know it. If hostess gifts are on your list or if you're hosting a holiday dinner yourself, The Write Coasters™ are a festive, unique gift idea. Give your guests something to write about and never lose their drinks! These chalkcloth coasters are a unique way to do both. Write your name to claim your drink spot. Use as place cards for a table setting. Write “conversation starters” on them for your next dinner party. Draw a picture. Be creative.Show your own personal style. Then, pour a fabulous drink and say "Cheers!" Summer Bubbles! 07/27/2009
I love polka dots. They're fun..happy...and always remind me of childhood. My daughter Lilly's wardrobe has polka dots bouncing all over it. I just can't resist a cute polka dot pattern! Thankful for so many blessings 11/27/2008
I am thankful for... Monster Treats 11/01/2008
So, what does a "Rockin' Robots" chalk mat have to do with our Halloween fun? Lots! It became a great source of inspiration for my family as we meticulously made (...and ate!) our Monster Treats turning rice krispy treats, icing, and candies into creatures from another planet. Lilly went a step beyond by making herself a cell phone complete with Skittles as buttons and a gum drop antenna. Brandon and I cracked plenty 'o laughs with the "voices" we gave our creatures as they came to life. I am curious about one thing, though. I have a sneakin' suspicion that a bit more candy was eaten during our decorating fun than the candy that actually landed on our monster treats. But seriously, isn't that what it is really all about? A new twist to a favorite holiday tradition 10/16/2008
![]() I have such wonderful vivid childhood memories of our holidays -- "patiently" waiting for dad to put on our favorite Statler Brother's Christmas tape (yes, this is before the invention of the CD!) and get the coffee brewing for mom; getting a baseball-sized navel orange at the toe of my knitted stocking (which was promptly returned to the fruit bowl later that morning!); and looking forward to another lifesaver candy storybook, ready to marathon chomp through all 8 packs one after another. Lifesaver books are certainly harder and harder to come by these days, but I can remember them so clearly. It wasn't Christmas without one! ![]() So here's a sweet twist to an old favorite --- use a roll.n.go crayons to wrap up 8 fun packs of lifesavers. With eight wide pockets, it's the perfect re purposed twist to a favorite holiday tradition. The hard part is choosing which kinds of lifesaver flavors to include! Celebrating Fall 10/12/2008
![]() I love, love, love this time of year. October brings a welcomed reprieve from the heat and humidity of summer, and the trees treat us to their red, gold, and orange fall foliage. Dozens upon dozens of honking geese have been flying over our house as they head in their perfect "V" formations southward. Though we have had warmer weather than typical for this time of year, I placed a few mums on the porch to remind us that autumn is really here! ![]() Next to the pumpkin patch was an amazing field of sunflowers. They were all standing tall at attention with their smiling faces glowing brilliant yellow toward the warmth of the sun. Lilly, being 4, loves to see how tall she is compared to just about anything. She searched and searched until she found a sunflower just as tall as her. I loved watching all of the bees busy with their days' work hitting up each and every one of them. Nature in action! ![]() Where else are sunflowers found? Right in my shop and ready for the picking. What a bright and festive way to decorate your table at home or wherever you dine with your child this time of year. These sunflowers will continue to smile at you for years to come! | {about me}
