Never too old for the zoo 08/19/2009
![]() Visiting the zoo is a treat we never tire of doing. A hop, skip, and jump from my parents' home is the Metro Richmond Zoo, so on a whim we can swing on by to visit with our favorite animals and enjoy a blue raspberry snow cone (or two!). We've been taking Lilly there since she was a baby. Now, she holds out her own little hands to feed the giraffes, camels, farm animals and deer. It's a kid-friendly zoo -- easily walkable for little legs, and the animals are close enough for children to really see them. I always feel like I'm in someone's backyard when we go. It's quaint, fun, never crowded, and we can all play like kids, make each other giggle with our animal sounds, and remind ourselves how beautiful our world truly is. You never get too old to visit the zoo. Summer Bubbles! 07/27/2009
I love polka dots. They're fun..happy...and always remind me of childhood. My daughter Lilly's wardrobe has polka dots bouncing all over it. I just can't resist a cute polka dot pattern! Keep the Good News Coming! 07/15/2009
What a fun surprise! Just happened to check on my store on Artfire.com and was greeted with the sight that my Children's Toile chalk mat was "The Item of the Hour." Naturally, I had to take a screen shot of it. It's not every day you get front screen promotion! Thanks, Artfire! Happy New Year! 01/01/2009
Day 1 of the New Year and I'm off to a rockin' start: Said "rabbit" at the strike of mid-night. Check! Burning a bayberry candle. Check! Doing a load of laundry. Check! I still have to walk down a flight of stairs backwards, but rest assured, I will before mid-night comes. So, all of my New Year's Day traditions (and a few superstitions) are nearly complete. 'Tis going to be a terrific year, indeed! Monster Treats 11/01/2008
So, what does a "Rockin' Robots" chalk mat have to do with our Halloween fun? Lots! It became a great source of inspiration for my family as we meticulously made (...and ate!) our Monster Treats turning rice krispy treats, icing, and candies into creatures from another planet. Lilly went a step beyond by making herself a cell phone complete with Skittles as buttons and a gum drop antenna. Brandon and I cracked plenty 'o laughs with the "voices" we gave our creatures as they came to life. I am curious about one thing, though. I have a sneakin' suspicion that a bit more candy was eaten during our decorating fun than the candy that actually landed on our monster treats. But seriously, isn't that what it is really all about? |
